2013 Programs
September 14, Friday Meet for fellowship at 9:30 followed by organizational
meeting covering events for year. Introduction
of new members and guests, sign-up sheet for fieldtrips, collection of
dues. A program on the history, the growing of gourds and gourd art will be presented. Covered dish dinner.
October 5, Friday Tours of three local members’ gardens. Members will car pool to homes of several
members’ homes to enjoy the gardens.
A member's home on Old River Road will be the last stop where we will
enjoy an outdoor lunch on the porch.
Members will bring their own lunch and beverage. Carpooling.
November 9, Friday Members will meet at the Calendar Garden at
30730 Old Hockley Road in Magnolia.
Lunch will follow at The Vintage Garden Tea Room, 304 Caroline Street,
Montgomery. Carpooling.
December 14, Friday Holiday luncheon and ornament exchange at Walden. Lunch will be gratis to paid membership, with
members responsible for gratuity ($5).
Guests may be invited. Entrée
will be chicken daVinci (mushrooms, artichokes), Tuscan romaine salad and Italian wedding
cake dessert. Members must sign-up by
the December 1 and pay for any guests.
January 11, Friday Fellowship
will be at 9:30 at St. James Episcopal Church followed by a program presented
by Patty Allen, owner of Bayou City Heirloom Bulbs in the Humble area. Bulbs will be available for purchase after
the program and selections can be viewed at www.bayoucityheirloombulbs.com. Contact Patty by email if you’re looking for
a special bulb. Covered dish lunch at
the church.
February 8, Friday Fellowship will be at 9:30 at St. James
Episcopal Church followed by a program presented by Mary Gage, owner of Spring
Creek Daylily Garden located in Harris County on Gosling Road south of The
Woodlands. Covered dish lunch will follow.
March 15, Friday Members will carpool to Frazier’s Ornamental
and Architectural Concrete near Hempstead at the intersection of Hwy. 290 and
Hwy. 6, followed by lunch and shopping at Martha’s Bloomers. Carpooling.
April 12, Friday Our last fieldtrip will be to Arbor Gate with
a program presented by Linda Gay, former director of Mercer Arboretum. Purchase of a box lunch will be available. Carpooling.
May 10, Friday Annual plant exchange and final meeting of
the year. Following fellowship a program
will be presented by Mariam Hemmeline, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” The plant exchange will follow a covered dish
lunch.
*Carpooling
to different locations is optional and will be from St. James Episcopal Church
and/or the Montgomery McDonald’s (on the south side of 105 driving in from
Conroe) depending on where you live.
